Botswana will host the Savings and Credit Cooperatives Associations (SACCA) Congress this year in October 2023. This was revealed by the Director of Cooperative Development Ms. Moipedi Nkoane in November 2022 at a workshop aimed at strengthening the Botswana Cooperative sector.

“In hosting this event Botswana is expected to uphold the standards that are attached to it, as such it is imperative that we all work together and start with rectifying our cooperative structures’’, Ms. Nkoane said.
She also urged Co-operators to be at the forefront during the preparations for the upcoming congress.

For his part, Minister of Entrepreneurship, Hon. Karabo Socraat Gare said that hosting SACCA congress is in line with the reset agenda initiative for making Botswana a preferred destination for conferences and seminars.

Hon Gare also had the opportunity to sign a Capacity Building Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with DGRV to strengthen the Botswana Cooperative Sector the implementation of which will transform the Cooperative Movement in Botswana ensuring that Cooperatives play a pivotal role in economic growth, income generation, job creation and poverty alleviation
